Season 2, Episode 3
This week I am speaking with Jennifer Benson of New Berlin, New York, (so she’s just very New in general). Jennifer is a teacher like myself, and she has written her first book “Beautiful Possibilities”, a memoir. Jennifer wrote about her years teaching in the Middle East, uprooting her whole life and surviving a tsunami!
We talk about what Jennifer calls her “inner ding” or that little voice inside of us all that tells us we’re not happy. Jennifer decided to listen to it and left a well paying teaching job near her home and family in 2001. Planning to be gone a year or two at most, Jennifer ended up not returning for 13 years! We talk about culture shock, finding love, and having to make tough decisions. It’s a fascinating interview!

Jennifer and I got on extremely well, and I found her story of the day of the tsunami fascinating. I look forward to reading her book one day and learning all about it!
Thanks once more to Jennifer Benson for coming onto the podcast, it meant a lot! If you’d like to get in touch with her check out her website here or follow her on Twitter! (especially if you’re a literary agent!)
In the meantime, be sure to comment below what you thought of Jennifer’s episode! Have you ever heard your inner ding? Did you listen to it? I’d love to know!
As always thanks for listening, and please consider sharing the show in any way you can!
