Season 2, Episode 5
Eve McDonnell is an Irish children’s author, artist and an all-round fantastic person. She is the author of Elsetime, a middle-grade fantasy book that tells the story of Needle, Glory and their mutual pet crow. The novel launched in September 2020, and Eve and I spoke about what it was like to have a debut book launch during a global pandemic.
I met Eve through Season 1 guest Sarah Webb. Sarah asked if I was interested in volunteering for Wonderfest, the first completely online children’s book festival in Ireland. I jumped at the opportunity! What bowled me over was the huge level of effort that goes into organising such an event. Thankfully, Eve has astounding organisational skills! We talk about Wonderfest, as well as how Eve found her way to writing, and more. She even told me of a chance meeting with a fortune teller!
I had a blast getting to know Eve! The talk we had after recording really helped too. Eve listened to the trouble I’ve been having with my first children’s book, and I want to thank her for helping me so much! If you want to know more about Eve, you can find her on Twitter (@Eve_McDonnell) or go check out her website!
